A beautiful spirit, Talise Ladell Hughes, 26, passed away on October 7, 2018, at Ochsner LSU Health, Shreveport, Louisiana, with her family by her side. Although she struggled with sickle cell anemia her entire life, she succumbed to it during this aggressive episode. She made her grand appearance into this world on May 26, 1992, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to Vernon Hughes and Michelle Franklin-Hughes.
Talise grew up in Shreveport and graduated from C. E. Byrd High School in 2010. After high school, she attended Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, Louisiana, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Pre-Professional Speech-Language Pathology. Talise was currently working on a Masters in Counseling at Louisiana Tech University. While continuing her education, she worked enthusiastically several positions at Home Depot and was recognized as Employee of the Month and Cashier of the Month. After Hurricane Harvey, Talise volunteered to work at a Home Depot in Houston to assist with the relief efforts.
Talise believed in God and enjoyed making others happy. She was baptized on July 17, 2002 at St. Abraham Baptist Church by the late Athan Cowthran. Later, she became a member of the Stoner Hill Baptist Church. Talise loved to praise dance and participate in church organizations. She was a member of the Diamonds and Pearls Social Club, where she participated in many activities. Her favorites were reading to children at the Providence House and giving out school supplies at the beginning of the school year.
Talise is survived by her parents Vernon and Michelle; her brother Tyler Hughes of Shreveport, Louisiana; sisters Markyiah Hughes and Marjzah Hughes of Oklahoma; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives.
