Willie James Saxton was born on January 22, 1941, in Shreveport Louisiana to the late James and Corine Saxton. Willie found Christ at a very early age and confessed Him as her personal Savior in Shreveport Louisiana. She also received her formal education in Shreveport Louisiana. Later in life Willie moved to Los Angeles, CA, where she met the love of her life Henry Clay Collins Sr., and they were united in holy matrimony on August 17, 1973.
She was employed at Jint Dandy Playground Company, after leaving there, she worked at various restaurants throughout the Los Angeles area. She also volunteered at schools throughout the Los Angeles Unified School District. Willie, better known as “Betty,” was a loving mother and grandmother, there was no doubt that she loved her family greatly and each name was embedded in her heart. She always made a way for them. Her friends loved her, and she loved her friends. You could always get a good laugh in her presence; she had a witty and charming sense of humor.
Proceeding her in death was her parents; James and Corine Saxton, husband; Henry Clay Collins Sr., two sisters; Exie Mae Jenkins and Bertha Mae Allen, one brother; Eddie Lee Saxton. On the morning of March 18, 2020, the heavenly host received order for a special pickup. The order specified that no waiting would be necessary for His Christian soldier, for her ticket was purchased long ago.
Remaining to cherish her life are her children; Janie Prudhomme (Donald), Johnny Saxton (Pamela), Catherine Saxton, Henry Clay Collins Jr. (Kemi) one brother; James Saxton Jr. (Shirley), three sisters; Estella Phelps, Gertie Wilson and Jessie Saxton, one Sister in Law; Dorothy Thomas fourteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
