Latanya was born September 6, 1957, the fifth child born to James and La Verne Lewis Bailey, in Shreveport.  She departed this life on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at Willis Knighton-Bossier Hospital, in Bossier City.  She grew up in a family that loved the Lord and she accepted Jesus Christ at an early age while attending Lane Chapel CME Church in Shreveport.

“Tannie” was educated in the Caddo Parish.  She graduated from Notre Dame Catholic High School and attended Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, Louisiana.  While at Tech, she studied and graduated in speech pathology.  Eventually, Tannie decided to adjust career paths and obtained her master’s degree in counseling.  This achievement allowed her to serve as a mental health counselor at Brentwood Hospital in Shreveport.

She was always active in the church while living in Daytona Beach, Florida, and Gary Indiana.  Upon returning to Shreveport, she continued serving the Lord, becoming ordained as a pastor and elder at Abounding Faith Temple underneath the tutelage of Bishop Andrew Randall, Jr., the Presiding Prelate.

Her commitment to serving people in her church, her profession, and the community is her life’s hallmark.  Tannie’s life is noted for her commitment to teaching and sharing God's Word.  She was filled with love, kindness, generosity and possessed an infectious laugh.  Her radiant smile and calming words will be missed by countless people.

She is preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Jo Ann Bailey.  She leaves to cherish her memory three sons: Nicholas L. Patrick, Shreveport; Randal G. B. Patrick, Dallas, Texas; and Jonathan E. Patrick, Atlanta, Georgia and her special daughter, Nicole Rodriguez, Bossier City.  Two grandsons: David and Xavier.  One granddaughter: Phoenix.  Two brothers:  James A. Bailey (Francine), Augusta, Georgia, and William C. Bailey (Aileen), Evans, Georgia.  One sister: Lillian Daniel, Shreveport.  A host of devoted nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, friends, and co-workers.
