Mrs. Gina Ford Obituary

Memorial Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, February 10, 2024 at Heavenly  Gates.

On February 7, 1961, Gina Ford, daughter of the late Condlee Johnson Sr. and Alberta Douglas was born in Shreveport, Louisiana.  Her family moved to New York City where she was raised until February 1990 when she moved back to Shreveport, Louisiana with her husband, Carl Woodbine Ford and their son Carl Nicholas Ford.

Here in Shreveport, Gina would go on to obtain her Bachelor of Science in Special Education from Louisiana State University Shreveport in 1997.  She would go on to teach for 25 years working at three schools: Sunset Acres, Oak Parks and Creswell.  During her time as a teacher, she taught Kindergarten through Second Grade, and touched the lives of multiple children and their families.

While teaching was very much a passion for Gina, she also enjoyed preserving moments with family and friends through scrap booking.  Gina took up this hobby in the early 2000’s and would go on to make well over a dozen scrapbooks including some for friends who absolutely adored the books that she had created.  These scrapbooks capture special moments for both the Douglas and Ford families ensuring that generations to come will be able to enjoy the memories and discover their family history.

Gina leaves to cherish her memory a loving son, Carl N. Ford, (Shreveport, LA), and husband, Carl W. Ford.  Three brothers, Sebastian Douglas (CT), and Sean Varo (CT), Condlee Johnson Jr., (Shreveport, LA), and sister-in-law, Polly Douglas (CT).  Nieces, Jiane Douglas (CT), Joelle Douglas (CT), Heather Ardrey (NJ), Catherine Summerfield (Shreveport, LA), and Tiara Summerfield.  Nephews, Julian Varo, Langston Varo (CT), and Condlee Summerfield, as well a host of beloved relatives and friends.

Gina was predeceased by her parents, Alberta Douglas and Condlee Johnson Sr., sister Pamela Johnson, and two children, Ebony Ford and Carl Woodbine Ford II.
