ACT-I
Curtis Marie was born, June 14, 1950 in Shreveport, LA. She was the youngest of five children born to the late David, Sr., and Allie Murray. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at First Baptist Church of Cedar Grove. She was very active in her church, singing in the choir, Youth Sunday School Teacher, Director of the Drama ministry as well as the Youth Director.
ACT-II
Curtis Marie was a pillar of the Shreveport community and a product of the schools of Caddo Parish. She attended 81st Street Elementary School, Union Jr. High and graduated from Linear Senior High in 1968. She attended and graduated from Grambling State University in 1972. Curtis Marie earned a Bachelor of Arts in History and while there, she pledged Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated Alpha Theta Chapter . She also attended Louisiana State University and earned a Bachelor of Science, Education, Social Studies teaching Certification.
She was one of the first black educators at Captain Shreveport High School, where she taught, Psychology, Sociology, Free Enterprise, and World Geography. She was an educator at Fair Park High School where she also taught Civics, Free Enterprise, and World Geography. She retired from Southwood High School in May of 2006. Even after retirement, she continued to teach and challenge the minds of our youth as a part-time substitute educator at Linear Leadership Academy Charter School.
Curtis Marie had a love for drama and entertainment. From this love, she founded Stir Up the Gifts Production Company. Through this production company, Curtis produced many plays and events that showcased the talents of others.
ACT-III
Curtis Marie was married from 1974 to 2003 to the late Alvin Davis and from their union were two sons: Deitrius and Triston Davis.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of twenty-nine years, both parents, and three brothers: David Jr., John L. (MC), Nathaniel (Sonny Boy).
ACT- IV
Curtis Marie touched the lives of many. She leaves to cherish in our hearts, souls, and spirit: two sons, Deitruis (Rialto, CA) and Triston (Shreveport, LA). Her three beloved grands, Briana Marie (Rialto, CA), Giovanni (Las Vegas, NV) and Tayton (Baltimore, MD), one great-grand True (Las Vegas, NV) and one sister Dorothy M. Clark (Shreveport, LA).
She is also survived by a special cousin, Commilar Ashley, a special caregiver Toya Larry and a host of many, many relatives, and friends.
Curtis Marie’s final Act was on Wednesday, February 17, 2021, surrounded by her sons, grandson, and caregivers.
