Service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, August 20, 2022 at Little Union B.C. Interment will follow at Lincoln Cemetery. Open visitation 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at Little Union B.C and family hour will be from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., Friday at Little Union B.C.
Mrs. Charles Etta Parsons, 87, Was Born January 18, 1935, In Shreveport, Louisiana and Cherished by Parents, Hilton and Marguerite Macklin.
She Confessed Her Love for Jesus Christ at An Early Age and was Baptized at Little Union Baptist Church Under the Leadership of the Late Reverend C.A.W. Clark.
Being Led by Three Dynamite Ministers, The Late Reverend C.A.W. Clark, The Late Pastor C.C. McLain and The Current Dr. C.E. McLain, Charles Etta was Extremely Active in many Church Activities. She was A Melodious Singer and Attracted Many Persons with Her Beautiful Voice while Singing in The Youth and Adult Choirs. She served as Youth Director, Vacation Bible School Teacher and Adult Choir Member. Charles Etta was an Outstanding Cook and because Everyone Loved Her Many Special Dishes, Pastor C.E. McLain Appointed her to Head the Church Culinary Committee. She enjoyed preparing and serving hundreds during Sunday School Breakfast, Anniversaries, Committee Meetings and other numerous programs.
Charles Etta was a Proud Graduate of the Booker T. Washington High School Class of 1953 and Always Enjoyed Celebrating Class Reunions. After Attending Grambling State University, She Returned Home and united in marriage to Air Force Sargent, Charles Edward Parsons, Sr. Together they shared 50 Amazing Years of Marriage. Their Union was Blessed with Six Children.
In The Late Sixties, The Parsons Family moved to Tainan, Taiwan (Formosa). While In Tainan, Charles Etta postponed her studies of becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse, but continued sharing her melodious voice by singing and performing many concerts for service men and families who attended.
After returning to America, she accomplished her dream of becoming an LPN. She excelled in the care given to so many patients, especially her pediatric babies at WillisKnighton (north) hospital.
Charles Etta departed life on August 12, 2022. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hilton and Marguerite Macklin; one brother, Milton P. Macklin; her husband, Air Force Master Sargent, Charles E. Parsons, Sr.; one son, Clifford E. Parsons.
Charles Etta leaves to cherish her memories her son, Charles Edward Parsons, Jr. (Norine); her daughters, Marguerite D. Ross (Glenn); MeGail D. Parsons, Lillian R. Parsons, Patricia Y. Parsons. Her grandchildren: Michael D. Parsons (Jaretta); Valerie A. Ross, James E. Ross (Debbie), Charles E. Parsons, III; Cameron Parsons, Tyler Johnson, Chloe’ Parsons, Carrington Parsons, Caytie Parsons, Mary Etta ‘Stormy’ Parsons. Her greatgrands: Mykhal R. Parsons, Ariel Smith, MaryAnah F. Tinneimon, Ian E. Ross, Jasmine E. Ross, Raygan Parsons, Rayne Parsons.
