Mrs. Bessie Morant was born in Hosston, Louisiana on November 3, 1919, to the late Charity and Will Clark, I. As a young child, she dedicated her life to Christ and became a life-long member of the Colquitt Baptist Church in Mira, Louisiana.

She continued her education at Grambling College in Grambling, Louisiana, and Wiley College in Marshall, Texas.

In 1955, Mrs. Morant began substitute teaching at Pine Valley Elementary School in Rodessa and Herndon High School in Belcher. In 1968, She began Community Outreach activities at the Rodessa Neighborhood Service Center where she was promoted to Coordinator in 1972.

Giving and caring from the heart were natural to Mrs. Morant. Her Community Outreach touched young and old members of the North Caddo Community. She helped many young adults select a college and find their first job.
