Mr. Lonnell Morant

Services will be 10 a.m., Monday, September 11, 2023 at Lake Zion Baptist Church, Belcher, La.  Interment will follow at Northwest La. Veteran Cemetery.  Open visitation will be from 11 a.m., to 5 p.m., Sunday at Heavenly Gates.

Every story has a beginning. Mr. Lonnell Morant was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on April 28, 1952 to the late Bessie and Leon Morant, Sr. 

He was educated in the Caddo Parish School System. He attended Pine Valley Elementary School and graduated from North Caddo High School in Vivian, Louisiana. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Army on October 27, 1970 until his service ended with an honorable discharge  June 26, 1972.

After serving his country, he returned home and worked with his father and brother as a painter and carpenter. He loved to travel around the world seeing and experiencing new aspects of culture and life.

Lonell departed this life on September 4, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Bessie Morant; his sister, Patty Morant; and his brother, Ovalee Morant.

His memory will always be cherished in the hearts of his siblings, Rosy Douglas of Atlanta, GA, Leon (Rosyland) Morant, Jr. of Hosston, LA, Donald (Melissa) Morant of Augusta, GA, Winifred Morant of Hosston, LA, Ruthie Lee Harrison of Carson, CA, Florastine Harris of Shreveport, LA, and Brenda Baker of Belcher, LA. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
