Mr. Grover Jackson Obituary

Graveside service will be  1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 21, 2020 at Lincoln Cemetery.  Open visitation will be from 11 to 4 p.m. at Heavenly Gates.

 

On Thursday, October 12, 2020, Grover Clark Jackson, was called home to be with the Lord. He was born February 2, 1939, in Shreveport, Louisiana to Clark and Lela Jackson; the eldest son of eight children.

Grover, was in the first graduating class of Walnut Hill High School of 1957. His adolescent and teen years were spent enjoying, boating, dancing, dominoes and playing his saxophone.

He moved to Portland, OR in 1973 were he lived for many years. During this time, he met the “Love” of his life Janet Betts, they were married in November of 1980. Later they moved to Shreveport, Louisiana where Grover established and operated a small business, until his retirement. Mr. Jackson was a faithful member and Deacon at Agape Faith Christian Fellowship Church in Bossier City, LA under the leadership of Pastor Donald Whitaker. 

Grover was a proud, outspoken and strong-willed man. His various talents and extensive knowledge made him the go-to guy offering help and advice for: construction, boating and truck driving. He was a hard worker who continued to work in his craft of painting houses well into his mid-70s. He also worked to instill entrepreneurship in all of his children and believed in being punctual.

Grover was generous to all who knew him. He cherished the time with his family and love ones. He was always on the go travelling across the United States and abroad visiting family and friends. He also loved watching sports cheering on  his favorite team the “Dallas Cowboys”.

Mr. Jackson was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Jackson; leaving a lifetime of love and memories. He was also proceeded in death by his parents Clark Jackson Sr, Lela V. Jackson, brothers: James Jackson, Buford Jackson, Sandford Jackson, Sisters: Adealia Jackson, Mable Jackson Murry.  Grover leaves to cherish his children: Lawanda Rohr-Clifton (Eddie Sr) Riverside California, Aunshelle Jackson-White, Shreveport, LA, Sean Jackson (Renita) Shrevepo”rt, LA, Sophia Jackson-Gatlin, Greenwood, LA, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and his beloved dog, “Rock”.
