Mr. Foster (Jr.) Lee

Foster Lee Jr. was born on August 22, 1925 to Emma Robinson and Foster Lee Sr. in Spring Ridge, Louisiana.

Foster Lee only achieved a fourth grade education.  However, he knew that he wanted to make something of himself and that he wanted to have some fun in the process.  His desire for adventure led to his lying about his age so that he could join the navy when he was only sixteen years old.  He served for three years, was able to see some of Asia and always spoke fondly of the privilege he had to serve his country. 

Mr. Lee enjoyed working with his hands, was trained as a mechanic and worked on oil rigs and drove trucks for a number of years.  He eventually decided that he wanted to be a builder.  He settled in Shreveport and apprenticed for a number of builders before becoming a general contractor.  Bennie Bolden Lee, his wife of 43 years, managed operations for their business and together they earned a reputation for quality residential and commercial construction in the Shreveport area. 

Foster always described himself as “a believer” but he only became a consistent church goer after his wife’s death (in 2007).  He has enjoyed attending services and has felt privileged to share his modest resources with the Church of Christ North in Shreveport, Louisiana for the past eleven years.

Foster Lee Jr. died on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at 92 years of age.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Emma Robinson, his father, Foster Lee Sr., his daughter, Sandra Kilkenney and his two sisters, Dorothy Lee and Falnora Boyd. 

Foster leaves his son, Foster Lee III, his daughter, Brenda Lee and his step daughter, Deborah Jean Player to cherish his memory.  His excellent work ethic, his generosity and his sense of humor will also be missed by his grandchildren, his great grandchildren and by a host of relatives and friends.
