Mr. Danzell Morris, Sr.

Services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Mt. Olive B.C., 7307 Liberty St.  Pastor C. F. Williams, officiating.  Interment will follow at Lincoln Cemetery.  Family visitation from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at Heavenly Gates. 

Brother Danzell Morris, Sr. was born the 7th child of 9 children to the late Larry Morris, Sr. and the late Carrie Y. Morris on November 14, 1948 in Shreveport, Louisiana.  
He accepted Christ at 8 years old at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Sandbeach.  
He was united in Holy Matrimony to Kathie Mitchell Morris in January of 1971, to this union 2 children were born, Angela and Danzell Morris, Jr. 
He was a 1966 graduate of Union High School where he was a standout athlete in baseball, football and track. Immediately following high school, he went to Kansas to pursue a career in baseball. Upon returning to Shreveport, he played for several dominate recreational teams that traveled across the United States, including B&W, Rebel Drilling,  Bruce's and The Blues Brothers.    He  retired from the construction industry as a Master Cement Finisher.  During his retirement years, he enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, traveling, cheering on the New Orleans Saints, gardening and staying fit.  
He departed this earthly life for eternal rest on Thursday, October 11, 2018.  
He leaves to cherish his beautiful memories his children, Angela Frierson (Rodrick) and Danzell Morris, Jr. (Ashala); five grandchildren, Caleb Morris, Micah Morris, Chayse Frierson, Chandler Frierson and Aspen Morris; two brothers, Larry Morris, Jr. and Lawrence Morris; one sister, Gerleen George, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Larry and Carrie Morris; four sisters, Vernell Jenkins, Virgie Morris, Dorothy Powell, Annie Lee Morris and one brother, Cordell Morris.
