Mr. Dempsy Porter Obituary

Celebration of life services or Mr. Dempsy Porter, 65, will be 3 p.m., Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Galilee B.C.,   Keithville, La.  Interment will be Monday at Northwest La. Veteran's Cemetery.  Open visitation will be Friday @ Heavenly Gates.


Dempsy Porter was born August 16, 1953 to the late John & Bertha Collins Porter.
 
He accepted Christ at an early age at St. Matthew Baptist Church in Melrose, LA.
 
Dempsy moved to Los Angeles, CA in 1971. On May 24, 1975, he met the love of his life, Geraldine Reese, and they became one in Holy Matrimony, August 12, 1978; from this union, three beautiful children were born.
 
In 1985. he joined the United States Air Force and traveled extensively over the world including his favorite places, Germany and Japan.
He returned to Louisiana in 1993 and later joined Galilee Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Wilbur Dawson. Under the leadership of Pastor Lee A Johnson, Dempsy was ordained Deacon on January 31, 2016 and served as President of the Pastor's Aide Committee.
 
After dedicated service to the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Postal Service, he retired from both in 2009.
 
God called him home on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 and told him, "Job Well Done."
 
He was preceded in death by his father, John Porter Jr., mother, Bertha Collins Porter and one brother, Quincy.
 
Dempsy leaves to cherish his memory: a loving and devoted wife of over 40 years, Geraldine Reese Porter; two daughters, Tiffany (Torrance), and Trameika (Garry); one son, Terrance; three grandchildren, Trinity, Mason and Torrien; five sisters, Thelma Roberson (Charles), Cora Hines (Grady), Viola Porter, Vira Jones (Floyd) and Esther Porter; one brother, Harmie Porter, Sr. (Gloria); goddaughter, Abriana Bell; sisters-in-law, Arnsey McBride, Delores Reese, Thelma Reese, Bettie Reese, Mattie Jones (Lloyd), Yvonne Riddle; brothers-in-law, James Reese (Geraldine), Pete Reese (Georgia), Bobby Reese (Marsha); a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
