Mrs. Vera D. Williams

SHREVEPORT, LA

­­­­­­Mrs. Vera D. Williams transitioned on January 1, 2017, at her residence in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Graveside Services will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2017, 11:00 AM, at Faith Memorial Cemetery in Gibsland, Louisiana.  

There will be no viewing.

Vera was born the youngest of eleven children to Phyllis and Artis Martin in Bienville Parish, Louisiana.

She received her education in Louisiana. 

Vera lived in San Francisco, CA for years before moving to Shreveport, LA.  She worked for the San Francisco Unified School District and the MUNI Transportation System.

Vera was preceded in death by her parents,  siblings Jessie Martin Sr., Artis Martin Jr., Otis Martin, Sr., James Martin, Glen Martin, Johnnie Hampton, Minnie Daurbigny, Mary Ann Sheppard  and her daughter, Beverly Woods.

She leaves to cherish her memory one son, Gary Williams, Shreveport, LA, grand-daughter, Delise Monroe, Oakland, CA, grandson, Justin Williams, New Mexico, four great-grandchildren, Sylvester, Xavier, Trevor and Alexander, Oakland, CA, one sister, Ethel Mae Wright, Houston, TX, one brother, Lonnie Martin (Clara), Richmond, CA, brother-in-law, Charles Sheppard, Houston, TX, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
