Mrs. Josephine Mester McSmith

SHREVEPORT, LA

Mrs. Josephine Mester McSmith, 84, transitioned on October 16, 2017.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2017, 12:00 Noon, in the Chapel of Heavenly Gates Funeral Home, 1339 Jewell Street.  

Interment will follow in Forest Park Cemetery - West.

Open visitation will be held on Friday, October 20, at Heavenly Gates Funeral Home.

Mrs. Josephine Mester McSmith was born to the proud parents of Mr. and Mrs. John Mester, January 3, 1933 in Shreveport, Louisiana. She was the fourthof seven children. She attended school at Our Lady of The Blessed Sacrament Catholic School.

She was a born again Christian, a member at Our Lady of The Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, of Shreveport, Louisiana.

For many years, Josephine McSmith worked at the original Ernest Supper Club until it closed. She was also emplyed at AMI and worked directly for Mr and Mrs BeeBee until their death. She retired from Weems Schimpf Gilsoul and Haines Lawfirm in Shreveport.

Her favorite past time was spending quality time with her grandchildren, going to the movies, skating, having family dinners and making the holidays special especially Thanksgiving and Christmas. 

She leaves to mourn:

Her brother, James Mester; her children; Sharon Booker (Richard), Lynnitha Rhodes, and Bonita Sweet Pickens (Charles); nine (9) grand children J.Johns (Ebony) Future Lenell Obayagbona (Orobosa) Tumarrow Romain (Al) Gary Lynn Hamilton (Kiana), Shannon Bernard Hamilton, Robert EarlSweet, Jr., Bonnitha Treneice Anderson (Randy), Tracy Vashon Hamilton and Kelvin Rayshon Smith, tweleve (12) great grand children, two (2) life long friends, Ann Meadows and Annette Brown; and ahost of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.   

Her parents John and Jessie Mester, brothers; John and Jerome Mester, sisters; Johnetta Mester Jessie Mae Ralston, and Joyce Faye Little preceded her in death.
