Deacon Cleophus Banks, Jr., transitioned on May 11, 2016, at Willis Knighton North Medical Center.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2016, 11:00 AM, at Union Springs Baptist Church.  Pastor Jeffery Garner, officiating.

Interment will follow in Lincoln Memorial Park.

The Family will receive friends between the hours of 12:00 & 8:00 PM on Friday, May 21, at St Peter Baptist Church.

Cleophus was known as a dedicated and hard worker. He was employed by Caddo Parish Schools for a short period of time, Assistant Librarian at Southern University at Shreveport, Travelers Insurance, he was best known for his community and civic role as the first City Wide Director of the Police-Community Relations (PCR) which later became known as Neighborhood Assistance Team (NAT);

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Linda Banks, sons; Roman Banks (Tiffany), Charlton Daryl Sample, Carlos Sample (Tenisha), daughters; Capathia Banks Givens, and Bridget Stewart, grandchildren; Trelun', Kennedi, Colyn, Ckelby, Cade, Cameron Sample and Kaithly Sample, Chasity Sample, Chase Sample, and Chelsea, 1 brother, 6 sisters, mothers; Dorothy Brewer and Ella Banks, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
